Visa to Bhutan

If you want to visit Bhutan as a tourist, you will have to apply for a tourist visa for Bhutan through a Danish or a Bhutanese travel agent. A travel agent will be able to arrange everything for you e.g. road permits outside Thimphu and Paro.

Please note that your passport has to be valid for minimum 6 months after you return to your home country.

It might take up to 1 month to get a visa to Bhutan. Therefore you will have to start your travel preparations well in time.

Be aware that you will need an Indian visa, if you travel via India, but you are advised to check the visa rules with the Indian Embassy in Copenhagen at least one month prior to departure. Danish citizens can get a tourist visa at arrival in Thailand that is valid for 30 days.

In Bhutan, it is mandatory to be attached to a travel agent as a tourist. You will have to pay minimum 200 to 250 US Dollars a day to this travel agent depending on the season. The minimum cost includes all expenditures such as food, lodging, local transport, visits to monasteries/temples, cultural events, government fee, local guide etc.
